Focus: Starter Packs Inverclyde

Starter Packs Inverclyde was launched on 23rd September 2002 with the support of Scottish Churches Housing Association (now Action), Inverclyde Council and a number of local businesses. It was set up as a direct response to the problems faced by homeless people who are offered a tenancy but lack sufficient funds to purchase the many small household items needed to set up and maintain a home. The project is a registered charity (SC 033306) of which over 20 local churches are members.
Church representatives set up a collection point in their church where good quality second hand or new items can be donated and arrange transfer of donated items to the Starter Packs Depot. Volunteers at the depot at Unit 2, Empress Court sort the items and make up the various packs which are then distributed by recognised agencies.

January’s suggested items for donation are shaving foam, disposable razors, and face cloths. In February, the suggested donation items are tea towels, household cleaners, and washing up liquid. Please consider bringing these items with you to church!
